The relationship between pot and erectile dysfunction is complicated. Many men experience increased arousal when smoking weed. It can also help to mask performance anxiety. These psychological factors contribute to the idea that marijuana may help with erectile dysfunction.

However, the physical effects of marijuana can actually contribute to or even cause ED.

In 2019, a meta analysis of five previous studies1 found that regular marijuana users were four times as likely to experience ED than non-smokers.

A 2024 study2 found a correlation between increased marijuana use and erectile dysfunction. while a 2025 study3 found  a significant association between marijuana use and elevated odds of experiencing erectile dysfunction.

None of these studies established a causal relationship.
